God’s Way is not a matter of mere talk; it’s an empowered life.
So how should I prepare to come to you? As a severe disciplinarian who makes you toe the mark? Or as a good friend and counselor who wants to share heart-to-heart with you. You decide.
1st Corinthians 4:20-21
Ouch. Paul is writing to the church at Corinth. Many church-goers are out-of-line. Their walk is not matching their talk. While Paul is out of sight, they’re making wrong-choice-after-wrong-choice. However, the Apostle is preparing to come for a personal visit. Uh oh.
That’s convicting. (What’s the old saying, “While the cat’s away, the mice will play.”) The Corinthians couldn’t physically see Paul, so a majority went their own way. Oh, they talked a good talk, but their walk was putrid.
No empowered life there.
Obviously, I can’t see Jesus with my physical eyes, but I sure can with my eyes of faith. Does my talk match my walk? Does the God of this universe have to use discipline to correct my unclean walk? Or can the God of my heart come alongside and whisper in my ear how very pleased He is with me. “God’s way is not a matter of mere talk; it’s an empowered life.”
