Are you a person of your word? Your word is your bond? What you say goes? If so, that’s a very good, very admirable quality.
God’s word is all that and much more. He ALWAYS speaks truth. He ALWAYS means what He says. And His words come with supernatural power. Life-changing. After all, He is the Righteous, Holy and Almighty God. And His words come from His mouth.
So, it would be wise to listen to every carefully spoken word penetrating your very soul. So penetrating, it is like a surgeon’s scalpel, precisely cutting through everything. All your doubt. All your defenses. All your excuses.
God’s Word, the Bible, lays you open, not only honing your listening skills, but to obey what He said.
“Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear!
Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.” James 1:22-24 MSG
And if you think you can go on your merry old way ignoring God’s word, you’re mistaken. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s word. That means you’re incapable of being influenced, persuaded or affected by His word. Whether you want to be or not. His word will not return void.
You can’t get away from it…no matter what! And that’s a very good thing. Truth and life flowing from the very mouth of your Heavenly Father.
God’s word has the remedy for everything! EVERYTHING! Ours is to listen and obey.
