The Father’s Greatness: Chewing on His Word

January 10, 2015 Posted by Margo Fieseler Devotionals

“You thrill to GOD ’s Word, you chew on Scripture day and night.
You’re a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom.”
Psalm‬ ‭1‬:‭2-3‬ MSG

What do you get thrilled about?
When my daughter comes home from college for a weekend…I’m thrilled. When my husband leaves an unexpected post-it note thanking me for being his wife…I’m thrilled. When a girlfriend calls me just to share life and laugh…I’m thrilled. When someone, I am praying for, has a breakthrough…I am thrilled.
The Psalmist thrills to God’s Word! Of course He does! These are living, breathing, life-changing, soul-rescuing words from the intimate heart of God. Made to give us life. And life abundantly! Words that you can thrill to as you steep on the promises of God in print!
No one else can speak LIVING words into your very heart, soul and mind. Oh, there can be encouraging, kind and helpful words. But only God’s Words are reading YOU as you read them!
Isaiah, a major prophet, tells us that flowers will fade and the grass will wither, but the Word of God will last forever! (Isaiah 40:8) How can they last forever? They are full of life! Always living. That is something to thrill to!
And the more you chew on God’s Word, the more you’ll thrill to it. That means you just don’t gulp it down. No…you taste it. Savor it. Think on it. Let it roll over and over like a cow chewing his cud.
When you chew on something, you allow it to release bursts of flavor. Plus, you’ve allowed for optimum nutrition. Imagine how His powerful Words will take root in you! Chew on!
Also, notice there are only two times that we should chew on Scripture. Only 2x! Day and night! Well, that pretty much sums up 24 hours! His point is well taken!
All-day-and-night Words which create a living hope in you, so you will always be full of life…bearing fresh fruit every month…always in blossom.
Chewing the Living Word can only bring you life…and life to the full!
I’m thrilled!!

The Father’s Joy: Real Refreshment!

Mar 18, 2015

"In your great love revive me so I can alertly obey your every word. What you say goes, God, and stays, as permanent as the heavens. Your truth never goes out of fashion; it’s as up-to-date as the earth when the sun comes up. Your Word and truth are dependable as ever; that’s what you ordered—you set the earth going." Psalm 119:90-93 MSG How do you get revived? Rejuvenated? Refreshed? Does a well-timed nap do it? A day at the spa? Taking a walk? Talking to a friend? Praying? The Psalmist, David, knew that God"s great love...His unconditional love...would revive him. And where did he run to personally experience that love? God's Great Love Story...aka God's Word...the Bible. He had the settled joy, the settled hope that what God says, goes. No debate. No doubt. Just trusting in God's unfailing, "permanent-as-the- heavens" Word. That's WHY he could be revived. He didn't wish that what God said was true. He KNEW! He was declaring that his personal YHWH God, and His spoken Word, IS truth and "dependable as ever." David knew where to run to be revived. He knew WHO would revive him. Before David needed to be refreshed, He knew The Refresher. That's important. If you don't know who to run to BEFORE you need Him, you will end up stewing in your circumstances or running aimlessly after all the wrong things and wrong people. And here's the clincher! What was David's purpose in being revived? "So I can alertly obey your every word!" He ran to God's Word to be revived so he could know His every Word. Why? To obey! To do the next right thing! What? Yup, there's the answer to being revived.. Know God. Know His Word. Be revived. Obey His Word to... Know God. Know His Word Be revived. Obey His Word to... What real refreshment...God-style! And the deeper you go with Him, the deeper your personal revival! His Word will never fail you, only rejuvenate!

FROM THE COMMUNUTY

Yesterday my mom fell again walking outdoors at her apartment…She is okay & was released from hospital after a few hours. On the drive to West Bend after we got the call…I found complete peace just loving my God & knowing He was in control of the situation no matter what it was. And then reading your devotion today made my heart cry out with a love for Him that can’t be put into words.
Thank you & thank you & thank you for listening & obeying the Lord.
