The Father’s Joy: Do The Next Right Thing

March 28, 2015 Posted by Margo Fieseler Devotionals

“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him.
You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught.
School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6, 7 MSG

Why is it even though we KNOW Jesus we still don’t step out on the water? Where’s our absolute trust without borders? It seems all we have are calloused knees.

The Apostle Paul’s counsel is straightforward and simple..”Go ahead with what you have been given…Jesus, the Master, now LIVE Him!”

You have everything you need to live life to the full RIGHT NOW! What are you waiting for? You don’t need to pray and pray and pray when you know the right thing to do. Just do it. Just do the next right thing.

How?”You’re deeply rooted in Him. You’re well-constructed upon Him. You know your way around the faith. Now DO WHAT YOU’VE BEEN TAUGHT.”

Remember being taught to read? Now you can read. To write cursive? Now you can write. To type? Now you are typing.

Or how about learning to play the piano? Now you are making beautiful music. Or being taught how to crochet…and now you are making baby blankets for new arrivals.

Or being taught how to ski, throw a ball, wakeboard, drive a car…the list could go on and on.

Well, when you are taught these activities…now you can use them. You are doing what you have been taught. You don’t keep studying books on “how to _____” and never put to use what you have learned. That would be foolish.

And it’s the same in our faith walk. We need to step out on the water…exercising our faith so that it will continue to grow stronger. If we never put what we have learned…God’s promises…to the test, we will never start really living.

Just go ahead and “be Jesus”. Imitate Him in all you think, speak and do.  You have been studying Him, learning His ways. Now go ahead…do what you have been taught. “And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”

FROM THE COMMUNUTY

Yesterday my mom fell again walking outdoors at her apartment…She is okay & was released from hospital after a few hours. On the drive to West Bend after we got the call…I found complete peace just loving my God & knowing He was in control of the situation no matter what it was. And then reading your devotion today made my heart cry out with a love for Him that can’t be put into words.
Thank you & thank you & thank you for listening & obeying the Lord.
